Is Australia's Dud 'B-girl' a Stereotype of People Who Think They are 'Smashing Stereotypes'?
"Breakdancing is a dance sport dominated by those who can do it."
Aussie Dud 'Breaker' set out to smash that stereotype"!
The issue of WOKE thinking and 'smashing stereotypes'.
"The Beauty and Fashion Industry is dominated by people who look good."
That stereotype is now being smashed and the world has overweight, not very good looking people specifically being chosen to represent 'beauty' and 'fashion'.
Mmmmm........
Most people across the world, would recognize what is expected of a performer of Breakdancing (Breaking).
It is not a theoretical perception of what it might be. It is an actual known and recognized form of athletic, even acrobatic, dance. The issue of this person is about how it is possible this person, and her husband and perhaps others, ever thought she was even adequate as a 'Breaker'. How was it possible to think that, and even still defend the possibility that it was a reality?
The performance was removed from English speaking countries but available from another country.
So here it is. Watch . The performance is very funny, but the outcome may not be so funny and could be very unfair. She does not deserve fame. This ridiculous Plympic entrant overshadowed all the real athletes at the Olympics spoiling it for all involved, and also disgraced Australia.
The world has raised mediocrity to being a 'high standard' and the world does have vast numbers of people with false or misplaced confidence who really do think they are the greatest thing on Earth. These are useful comments from Matt Walsh
This Isn’t A Joke. Rachel Gunn ACTUALLY Thinks She’s Good At Breakdancing
Watch (BTW her husband is her 'coach'.
This story is more than about this person. It covers an unrealistic attitude.
In the interview on Australian TV as the first official interview after the Olympic fiasco. When asked if this female thought she was the right person to represent Australia in the Olympics she answers absolutely that 'she won the Oceania competition'. Also that she was pleased her performance produced a positive response to her joke of a peformance. So here is the video by a Behavioural Analyst.
NEW Sept. 7th. 35 minutes. Watch She ACTUALLY Believes She's The BEST?!
She does consider she is 'artistic' Interesting video by a Behavioural Analyst.
Internet comment :
" I think, its pretty clear there was something in the selection process that she was aware of that wasn't exactly on board, and hearing the judge from NZ openly state they knew she would get smashed, means that the whole rumour around there not being enough notice time for the actual qualifier [meant] enough "competition " didn't actually show up to show Raygun she actually isn't the best in Australia, also has some truth to it,"
Sept. 5th. This topic also covers woke thinking and unrealistic perceptions. In addition she could become a celebrity based on something that does not warrant it. She was already appearing on a regular Australian TV show called The Project - a kind of entertainment and news show - and had quite a few professional promotional photos of herself, so was clearly working on becoming a 'celebrity' for breakdancing (breaking)., with a regular guest spot on shows like The Project.
She appears to have some existing contractual agreements to be on that show, or why would the show have an interview with her. Firstly though, her initial response to what the world thought of her joke of a performance at the Olympics, was that it was 'hate'. However, people did raise legitimate questions about how she came to be Australia's Olympic representative for Breaking.
She was chosen because she won the Oceania Breaking Championships, which was a fairly newly established competition. There had been questions about the involvement in that selection process, by herself and her husband.
In her most recent response in the segment on The Project on September 4th she is still saying that the response to her awful and laughable performance was 'hate'.
When asked if she knew any of the judges on the panel for that 'championship' her answer was actually evasive. Her answer was that it was a new panel of judges, and she was very nervous about it.
She did not say that she didn't know any of them.
One of the biggest issues we think is the interpretation of 'originality'. Australia always, always comes up with kangaroos, swimming and similar extremely unriginal thinking, as being what represents Australia. Creating 'moves' which are the movements involved in any of these is not 'original'. It is embarassingly predicatable, and the 'moves' look ridiculous. Australia is always cringe.
Next short video.
Following the worldwide amusement at the Australian's performance at the Olympics, she gave a response on Instagram expressing that the 'hate' was devastating, and there is also this in another video, recorded in Paris when she and her husband were out walking. Watch
Frankly, in her Instagram response she does not appear to be all that 'devastated'. What she expresses is that she found all the 'hate' devastating.
She was not devastated because her breaking performance caused such a worldwide response and that she realizes and accepts that it was bad. Not sorry that she was there at the Olympics representating her country and did a performance as farcical as it was. What she found 'devastating' was all the 'hate'.
And this is indicative of the real problem here. There was no 'hate' from anyone! Most laughed at her awful performance, but others asked legitimate questions how she was there in the Olympics. This is fair enough. If you are out there as the best your country has, and showcasing that on the world stage, people are going to comment.
She has given every impression that she has considered herself worthy of being in the Olympics and that she is a break dancer. She does seem to be able to do the hip hop dance okay, and in breaking that is called the Uprock. But she cannot do any of the Downrock side of breaking which is all the athletic stuff and floorwork. So this is extraordinary, not just that judges made it possible for her to be the Olympic selected representative, but that she seriously thought she was the one who should be selected. When it turns out the world doesn't think she was very good, she interprets that as being 'hate' towards her.
Is A Dud 'Breaker" now making money by being a 'celebrity'?
She has already appeared as a guest on an Australian entertainment award show. Obviously recorded soon after this 'devastating' experience of 'hate' towards her, and not a trace of embarrassment or being upset to be seen.
This was probably a pre-arranged thing with the TV channel as she was doing a lot of pre-Olympics self publicity giving the impression that she expected to do well at the Olympics and perhaps add to her career by being one of the guest speakers TV programmes use on their Talk Shows or for interviews. She was perhaos preparing the way to become a celebrity? Those who are on the payroll for being called in for TV show interviews or panels can make quite a nice income from that.
But Dr. Gunn did NOT do well at the Olympics and did not become a sensation for being a university professor and a breaker who won Olympic accolades.
If she now went on to be a 'celebrity' would that indicate that going to the Olympics and being a joke which has also mocked the entire dance-sport is a clever way to create a celebrity status big bucks income? Unfortunately Australia is exactly the type of country that would do something like that - have her as a guest segment on an awards show - whereas other countries would let it go. Surely Australians should not support doing this. All the real athletes and people who worked for their athletic status have been ignored because of her.
People are looking into WHY she was selected. They are not accusing her, they want to know why or even how she became the selected person for the Olympics. Answers such as given by Australian Olympic Committee executives Meares, Perkins, and Carroll are 'damage control' trying to deflect attention. In reality they are creating more attention.
The reality is that there were not any real competitions in place for anyone to qualify for the Olympics.
The WDSF OCEANIA BREAKING CHAMPIONSHIPS created and Raygun was selected. This is the World Dance Sport Federation. She didn't 'scam' any free trip to Paris. Its not all that much for anyone on her salary to fly off to Paris. She was really doing this connected with her uni research on 'gender studies' showing that the dance sport is dominated by men - although the women were in fact very athletic and good. She mistook that "originality" and "innovation" could replace the all important athletic part of breaking. It does look as if her aim was to 'smash stereotypes' and also to become a TV personality who appeared as a guest speaker on Australian TV shows like The Project.
Has Australia's Ridiculous Exhibition of 'Breaking' Ruined It's Reputation?
Will breaking now always be associated with what this woman did? Has she spoilt this dance sport for everyone now? Did it make it a joke? Has it made it less fun and cool? Do her 'stereotype smashing' "studies" undermine the happiness and pleasure that kids had in breakdancing?
Were this Person's Moves 'Original' and 'Innovative'?
It was adding the utterly stupid moves like the 'spirnkler' and 'kangaroo hop' - something only an Australian would be dumb enough to do - and think it is trailblazing. People are not interested in 'typical Aussie' things like a water sprinkler or kangaroo. It is a fact that Australia frequenlly 'misses the point' and does eye rollingly embarrassing things. For example, they had outdoor 'clothes lines' and silly stuff like that, for the closing ceremony when the Olympics was held in Sydney. These things are not original ideas nor do they represent Australia. Nor is 'duckwalking'. Australia always does stuff like this.
Woke thinking is Decidedly Unrealistic
But not for a digital reality.
The thinking that being a man or a woman or human is a 'concept' and subjective can be a reality in a digital universe. Fat 'beached whale' females could be the '10' they think they should be, same for the men. Australia's joke of an entry for the Olympic Breaking might be really good in a digital world. But this world reality is biological. Further into the 'mirror reverse' may be an actual digital existence.
For a simple breakdancing (breaking) performance at the Olympics that happened to be well below Olympic standard and made the world laugh
why did the head of the Australian Olympic Committee and the Prime Minister of Australia feel they had to step in and make comments IF it was not significant?
More to the point, why did these responses to people's comments have to be that any such comment was 'hateful'?
Why were Keiren Perkins, the head of the AOC and the Australian PM telling people they were wrong, hateful, disgraceful to express an opinion on the performance?
Were they TELLING people how to respond? Labelling them wrong?
Were they telling Australians, or were they telling the world that what they said was 'hate' and to 'get back in your box' and that they should not not have opinions about the performance?
Obviously the vaious committees knew there was a problem because this was their 'damage control'.
This short video has amusing comments and more stunning film of Australia's "best breakdancer" and her coach husband. He has equally bizarre moves and does not seem to understand breakdancing. Watch
The Response
In Dr. Gunn's response to how viewers commented on her Olympic breaking performance, she doesn't apologize for it. She comments that it was 'hate' which is an extraordinary thing to say. She informs us that there are no points in breakdancing. However, it is supposed to be breakdancing.
Being 'original' and 'innovative' should at least mean more than bringing in swimming moves and kangaroo hops, but it seems that she may have been relying on that to help her along instead of doing what is considered breaking. It has been pointed out that all her freeze positions were on the floor. Usually they are skill and strength moves holding a position on one hand or something, but perhaps just lying on the floor for that could be considered 'original'?
Every other breaker in the Olympic competition performed to a standard that was expected of the Olympics. None of them relied on a loose interpretation of the usual moves that make up breaking. Perhaps what she says in her response has a reality somewhere, it was an individual interpretation, there were no points, at the end of the day what she did just looked funny, and the world laughed at it. If her strategy was to bring her take on 'original moves' maybe she should have said she was sorry that that didn't work as well as she had intended! And as for the comments of Keiren Perkins, excellent Olympian that he was, he told people to 'get back in their box' and it is hard to believe he is a 'huge fan of Raygun'. Is it being a fan of the person Raygun, or is it being a fan of her breakdancing?
Having watched her response a few times she does not appear to be all that 'devastated'. She seems more annoyed and arrogant or perhaps angry about it.
Also what she wore was kind of the opposite of what people wear for breaking wasn't it? That was original. Innovative even. Smashing stereotypes.
*We have watched the Oceana Breakdance competition which qualified her for the Olympics. It is similar stuff. The comementator mentions the 'originality' of her final move. Was she always pushing the 'originality' angle? It is clear that breaking is a very young dance-sport in Australia and there probably are not any who have yet reached the standard expected for the Olympics.
I immediately did wonder about this person's thesis for her Ph.D then wondered if I should go that far. However, qualified people have been looking into it. I would suggest that her university Macquarie, and other Australian universities ARE now being looked into. The point is not against Raygon, it is the standard of what is accepted and related issues.
Who Assessed Dr. Gunn's Thesis for her Ph.D?
It is clear that neither Raygun nor her husband/coach understand breakdancing, There was even a video by an Australian girl 'explaining' to us that the stuff we saw from Raygun at the Olympics 'was Australian breakdancing'. No it wasn't. It wasn't breakdancing. In fact the Australian Olympics Committee had no authoritative body who knew about 'breaking' so there is equally a question about the thesis for the Ph.D she has and subsequent university salary for a job at McQuarie University. Who knew anything about 'breaking' and the breakdance culture to make an informed decision on Raygun's thesis?
The Dud Aussie "Breaker" Reveals a Problem - Aussie Universities Are a MESS
Watch These are good comments. and this Watch
In fact I had a small piece added on the Raygun topic of waffle standards as they apply in the workplace. The comment was that just before the Sydney 2000 Olympics the vary large multi-million dollar entertainment business I worked at in Darling Harbour, Sydney began a new system for 'testing' who should be promoted to higher supervisory positions in the workplace. What haappened was the 'test' they created ensured that almost across the board only those who had recently been trained into the job would 'pass' the testr. Others with many years of experience and a professional presentation of their work, were completely excluded. This was very much commented on at the time.
A point was made that such a 'test' if applied to the world of ballet would see a newly trained ballet dancer override the experience of a great dancer like Margot Fonteyn and thereafter the newbie would be the new 'Grande Dame of the Ballet'. Once the wrong people are in the top positions, everything is thereafter stuffed.
The petition states in the wording about the 'upcoming Olympic Games' which suggests this petition was created by those involved in the selection process, either the kids, or others who already had issues about it. That was before the games began and before the actual event.
The petition asking if 'Raygun' Breakdancer's Selection for the Olympics should be Investigated Has Been Taken Down.
The petition reached up to 54,000 signatures when it was taken down. Perhaps it was worded wrongly? Although their are questions how she qualified and such questions may have asked if Raygun or her husband had been involved in the selection process. That is because the performance was not very good, and probably should not have been considered breakdancing. Dr. Gunn has recorded a comment and expressed surprise that there was 'so much hate'. There has not been one favourable response to the suggestion that there was 'hate'. Most suggest that she should at best stay silent and let this story fade away.
There is more damage done by accusing people's response as being 'hate'. Also the two 'damage control' interviews by Australian Olypmic Committee members was more damaging, saying she was at the Olympics to 'give it a go', to be 'proud to wear the uniform' and because it was a 'sport she loved' and 'in 2008 was in a room crying because it was male dominated'. All the other competitors worked hard to be there, yet who knows who won the gold? The French girl 'Syssy' matched with Raygun apparently won the bronze.
Internet comments in response to Dr. Gunn's response.
: "I don't think anybody hates her. We're just dumbfounded how she made to the Olympics when there are better qualified individuals in Australia."
" I got an Australia Day Award for culture. I left Australia soon after. This is why, right here. Cringy, self-congratulatory “art” is always pitched as “sportified creativity equal to the world” which it just isn’t. Meanwhile, actually creative Australians remain unfunded and told to “respect your “superiors””
"Look, this isn't about attacking you personally. When you're competing at the Olympics, just like any other athlete, you're going to be judged on your performance. This isn't about you as an individual, but rather about your claim as 'Australia's best breakdancer' and your role as an Olympic athlete representing our country. So, let's focus on the competition and leave the personal feelings aside. You're not a victim here—you're an athlete being assessed like everyone else."
'It’s not about you it’s about the way you „danced“ no sexism nothing."
"She needs to quit the internet and contact that same guy from breaking bad who gets people a new identity."
:" Criticism isn't hate, it is what those close to you should have done before you embarrassed yourself."
" Is she playing victim card now ?"
" She should run for PM. She'd probably win. Zero self awareness or shame and completely delusional. That's all it takes to succeed in the world today."
"Her "performance" should be the poster for people wanting a Ph.D.".
…
It is questionable that there is 'hate' shown anywhere about the Olympic performance of Raygun. Nor has there been bullying. As far as we can see, no-one has 'hated' this person. Most have questioned how she could have been selected for the Olympics, some were appalled by the performance and for others it made a lot of people cringe or laugh. It is understood that people across the board realize and understand that this is a person with feelings.
Despite that there are serious questions how Raygun qualified, and why what she did was considered Olympic level breakdancing by the Australian Olympic Committee. It has been shown apparently, that Dr Gunn and her husband are not affliated with the Ausbreaking governing body, so presumably that has now been investigated as the petition asked. There are still questions how she was selected.
This 'Olympic level' breakdance has to be seen!

Watch 30 seconds.
The performance has been removed from English speaking countries but available from another country. So here it is.
Watch . It is really bad. She can actually dance the hip hop moves. It's the breaking she can't do. And what was she wearing? That's not breaking dance gear. The French girl opponent is good to watch though, how I would like to be able to dance it if I could even walk properly. As for 'creativity' and 'originality' - Australia ALWAYS adds things like water sprinklers, outdoor clothes lines, lawn mowers, kangaroos, platypus duck moves, as "uniquely Australian". Most of these featured in the 2000 Sydney Olympics closing ceremony - and looked stupid then too.
Will she return from her holiday in Europe and be PAID to do a TV interview, like 60 Minutes, thus beginning to make what could be a great deal of money IF we the public facilitate that happening. Let's not watch any interviews!
NEW. How Did She Qualify?
Petition to investigate possible unethical behaviour. Aug. 15th and the petition has been taken down.
Link. This is an Olympic event, and that is the required standard. The best should qualify. It is not just that this is a farce of a performance. It is that there are questions how she managed to qualify. I am considering signing the petition. The Prime Minister, and the Australian Olympic Committee, are telling people how to think. 'Damage control' that makes it worse. (Maybe I should go and cry in a room, and see if that gets me into the Olympics.)
This sham saw kids with talent and dreams refused funding so that Raygun got through. There are real dancers who were shoved aside for this person with a garbage Ph.D in Gender Studies' and Breakdancing Culture. There have to be questions.

The comment by Australian Olympic Committee exec Matt Carroll that 'Rachel did not set up the organization 'Breaking Australia' is not what the organization is called. It is called Ausbreaking. So, was she or her husband involved in that?
This person looks like she was preparing to be a 'breaking' superstar for Australia with quite a lot of pre-Olympics TV appearances and mini docos beforehand. Raygun was part of the push to include breakdancing in the Olympics. There was no official body which could make professional judgment because no-one was qualified. They initially used the Ballroom Dancing committees, but they didn't know either. Before doing her woke PhD in 'gender studies' she researched to find a form of dance that had not been fully covered before. This may suggest an opening for someone to become the authority on Breakdancing (breaking) in Australia as well as being an Olympian in this? This whole thing looks like a rort, perhaps along with others who kept giving her these awards with an eye to the future. Awards like 'Sport Star of the Year' for example. . It's said she (and others involved) could make millions from product endorsements but I think anyone doing a spoof of her could do that. This short video has amusing comments and more stunning film of Australia's "best breakdance" and her coach husband. Well, that's not how it works, it's supposed to have an athletic, structured component, otherwise anyone capable of writhing chaotically across the floor would make the Olympics. Australians must honor their tradition of political incorrectness and call this BS for what it is, lack of talent, cronysm and disrespect of competition."
